For our Ghent headquarters we are seeking a colleague to join our Supply Chain team. In this key role, you will help shaping our global purchasing strategy by building strong supplier relationships, negotiating profitable contracts, and contributing to our overall business success.
What will your responsibilities include?
- You will collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to create and implement purchasing strategies for raw materials, logistics, and packaging in Europe. You will establish relationships with international business partners and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and sustainability standards. You will be involved in APQPs and take charge of sourcing needs for new products (raw materials and packaging) and logistical services.
- You will look for sources and alternatives in the market and guide them through an extensive supplier qualification process. You will implement new agreements and contracts for working with suppliers.
- You will identify and address risks associated with supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and supplier reliability. You will manage the supplier database and foster strong relationships with these suppliers.
- You will perform cost analysis and benchmarking, negotiate competitive prices, and manage multi-year contracts with suppliers to secure the best terms for our plant and maintain efficient inventory levels.
- You will work closely with other departments such as procurement, production, finance, legal, and sales.
- You will monitor market prices and trends, provide insights through internal presentations and newsletters, and support sales negotiations by forecasting price trends.
What makes you the right candidate for this role?
- You hold a master’s degree, preferably in chemical engineering or chemistry.
- You have experience in purchasing or sales.
- You excel in supplier relationship management and negotiations skills. You have affinity with sustainability.
- You are driven by Operational Excellence and Quality.
- You are skilled at handling complexity and ensuring compliance chemical regulations and other laws.
- You demonstrate strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.
